Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Trombone Choir to perform music spanning 500 years

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Trombone Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Trombone Choir in concert at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

The performance will feature music spanning 500 years, according to Deb Scott, associate professor of trombone at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and director of the choir.

Among the works performed will be "Nunc Dimittis" by Giovanni Gabrielli, composed in the 16th century and written for 14 trombones, and "Under the Double Eagle," by Josef Wagner, which was arranged for the trombone choir by Michael Swann, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ senior music major from Plano.

"The concert will close with the trombone choir joined by a jazz rhythm section performing two popular jazz standards, 'On the Street Where You Live' and 'Here's that Rainy Day,'" Scott said.
