September 8, 2014
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host a plant propagation workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St.

Dawn Stover, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Mast Arboretum research associate, will lead an exploration of useful methods for gardeners to cost-effectively increase the number of plants in the landscape. Stover will teach various propagation techniques including taking cuttings, sowing seeds and dividing perennials, and class members will participate in hands-on activities to reinforce instruction.

"Dawn has been propagating plants for the Mast Arboretum and popular Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens plant sales for over 20 years," said Elyce Rodewald, education coordinator for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens. "This is a wonderful opportunity to learn some of her successful practices in a friendly, relaxed environment."

Cost for the seminar is $20 for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens Friends members and $25 for non-members. To register for the seminar or to receive more information, contact Rodewald at (936) 468-1832 or sfagardens@sfasu.edu.
