'Tis the season for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's annual tree-lighting ceremony, featuring live musical performances, refreshments, children's activities and a toy drive benefiting the Women's Shelter of East Texas.

The Residence Hall Association is sponsoring the "Holiday Extravaganza" from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in front of the Austin Building. All students, faculty, staff and friends of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ are invited to attend the event, which will feature performances by Soul to Soul Gospel Choir, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Choir and the Raguet Elementary School Choir

"To go along with this year's tree-lighting ceremony, RHA is hosting a toy drive to benefit the Women's Shelter of East Texas," said Savannah Sloan, RHA president. "We encourage everyone to donate a new, unwrapped toy to bring cheer to a child this holiday season."

The tree-lighting ceremony will get under way with remarks from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ President Baker Pattillo. Refreshments will be served, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available immediately following the tree-lighting ceremony.
