Children's gingerbread house making workshop scheduled

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will offer a gingerbread house making workshop for area first through eighth graders from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, as part of the Creative Art Wednesday program. The class will be held at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Art Education Graduate House, located at 115 Feazell St., behind Wendy's Restaurant.

Participants will work in groups, with each group creating a gingerbread house that can be entered into the Nine Flags Festival Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays Contest.

The class will be taught by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ art education majors under the guidance of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Assistant Professor Marsha Blount and graduate assistant Stina Jimerson. The $5 registration fee covers the cost of materials.

Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Nov. 30. Parents should e-mail Jimerson at jimersonck@titan.sfasu.edu.

"Parents are welcome to stay for the class, but due to limited space, we ask that they not bring small children who are not enrolled," said Blount.
