NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tenor Christopher Hollingsworth, assistant professor of music at Illinois State University, will present a guest artist recital at 6 p.m. Monday, March 22, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

Performing with Hollingsworth will be pianist Ron Petti, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ director of accompanying.

"We are pleased to bring Dr. Hollingsworth to campus," said Scott LaGraff, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ associate professor of voice. "He will be performing a recital of classics, standards in the vocal repertoire."

Included on the program are Ludwig van Beethoven's "Adelaide" and "Phydylé" by Henri Duparc, whose songs are "intensely passionate, almost erotic, and stunningly beautiful," LaGraff said.

Hollingsworth will also sing "Non t'amo più" by F. Paolo Tosti and a set of spirituals that includes "Give Me Jesus" and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."

Hollingsworth has appeared with various regional opera companies in the United States, singing leading and featured roles in "Don Giovanni," "The Magic Flute," "Carmen" and "La Traviata." His musical theatre credits include leading roles in "Joseph," "Showboat" and "Big River." He has also appeared as a soloist with several regional orchestras.

Hollingsworth holds degrees in vocal performance from DePauw University, Binghamton University and the University of Illinois.

The recital is a joint presentation of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Fine Arts and School of Music.
