NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Area children may register for one of two age-appropriate art workshops offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art from 4 to 6 p.m. on the first two Wednesdays in November as a part of the Creative Art Wednesday program. Classes will be held at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Art Education Graduate House, located at 115 Feazell St., behind Wendy's Restaurant.
First through fourth graders will meet on Nov. 3 to work with bubbles and squiggle abstracts as they learn about color and complementary colors. Fifth through eighth graders will meet on Nov. 8 to explore color and value by creating cool and warm trees and adding white and black to different colors.
Classes are taught by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ art education majors under the guidance of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Assistant Professor Marsha Blount and graduate student Stina Jimerson.
Registration for each class is $5 and covers the cost of the materials. Parents may pre-register by e-mailing Blount at blountmarsh@sfasu.edu or Jimerson at jimersonck@titan.sfasu.edu.
"Parents are welcome to stay for the classes, but due to limited space, we ask that they not bring small children who are not enrolled," said Blount.
