Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The program for "With Wind and Song," a concert by the Stephen F. Austin State University's Wind Symphony, on Monday, April 26, will feature compositions for band and chorus. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

Joining the band to present Aaron Copland's "Old American Songs (Set II)" will be Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's Choral Union and Women's Choir. David Howard, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ associate director of choirs, will guest conduct the piece that was originally written for voice and piano.

The choirs will also collaborate with the Wind Symphony in presenting Jonathan Newman's "Moon by Night," which is based on Psalm 21, and "Equus" by Eric Whitacre. The composer describes the work as "a moto perpetuo, a piece that starts running and never stops."

Also included on the program is Clifton Williams' "The Sinfonians," featuring members of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia singing the moving Sinfonian Hymn, said Dr. David W. Campo, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ associate director of bands and the Wind Symphony's conductor.

The band will also present Campo's wind band arrangement of Dr. Stephen Lias' "Ebullience" in honor of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ professor of composition's recent selection as the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ School of Music's Outstanding Music Alumnus.
