Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ honors accounting faculty member

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Treba Marsh of Lufkin, professor in the Gerald W. Schlief School of Accountancy at Stephen F. Austin State University, was the recipient of the Nancy C. Speck Development Award presented at the 24th annual Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gala.

Marsh holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in management from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. She earned a doctorate in accounting from Louisiana Tech University and first joined the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ faculty in 1987. She served as director/chair of the accounting school for 10 years and was honored with the Outstanding Faculty Award by Beta Alpha Psi in 2010 and with the Outstanding Educator Award in 2009 from the East Texas chapter of Texas Certified Public Accountants.

The Nancy Speck Award was established in 2009 to recognize dedicated volunteers, students or faculty and staff members who have assisted in advancing the university's mission through development methods. Nancy Speck served as vice president for university advancement at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and was a faculty member in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

Donor honorees included Shelby County Judge Rick Campbell; local businessmen Jim, Tom, John and Bob Kingham; and the late Cecil Richey Jr., an Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ alumnus and longtime East Texas educator. Faculty honorees included Fred J. Allen, professor of music and director of bands, and Dr. Nathan Nabb, associate professor of music/saxophone.
