NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Stephen F. Austin State University's Wind Ensemble will present "A Musical Passport" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

The concert will showcase travel and destinations with pieces from Australia, England and America. Among the pieces to be performed, "Manhattan Roll" by Robert Beaser demonstrates the influence of the legendary New York Philharmonic conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein, according to Fred J. Allen, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ director of bands and of the Wind Ensemble.

"Like Bernstein's music, this upbeat piece shows jazz influence and the vitality of the American music scene," Allen said. "This piece was chosen to challenge our players and to inspire the audience."

Tamey Anglley, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ assistant director of bands, will guest conduct "Spin" by Kris Maloy, while Jonathan Sweet, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ graduate student from LaGrange, will guest conduct "Noisy Wheels of Joy" by Eric Whitacre.

The Wind Ensemble's performance is part of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ College of Fine Arts and School of Music's Concert Series. Turner Auditorium is located in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, 2222 Alumni Dr.
