Getting involved

Joining a student organization is a great way to make friends and get to know your professors – and it helps you build a support network, find study groups and become a more successful student. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ is home to more than 200 student clubs and organizations, so no matter what you’re into, you’ll find a club where you’ll feel right at home.

English clubs and organizations

The Department of English and Creative Writing has three organizations that you might wish to join. Sigma Tau Delta is the National English Honorary Society, and students with a 3.0 GPA in the major and overall may become members. SubPlots: Friends of Creative Writing is an active organization for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ creative writers.

Honor societies

Students who meet academic and coursework requirements may be eligible to join the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ chapter of , the International English Honor Society. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s chapter, Phi Iota, has been going strong since 1964. Members participate in a variety of social activities and community service projects, and they have access to a variety of unique scholarships and internships, conferences, career networking opportunities and more.
