Overview

Protect our planet

This program focuses on the physical, chemical and biological conditions of the environment, and teaches you how to develop solutions to environmental problems.

You'll learn to turn scientific theory into real-world solutions. Courses comprise lecture and lab sessions that support two specialized tracks of study: land, air and water resources, and discipline specialization. These enable you to pursue your specific interests in the field.

Why study environmental science?

Classrooms provide the framework, but you'll also work alongside faculty members on essential research. When you study environmental science at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, you'll have practical experience and scientific expertise when entering the workforce:

You'll gain expert knowledge in:

  • Ecological and planetary systems
    • natural ecosystems and the interconnected factors shaping Earth's environment.
  • Environmental policy
    • past and present regulations, frameworks and sustainability policies.
  • Scientific analysis and monitoring
    • chemical analysis techniques and instrumentation for ambient air quality monitoring
    • physical, chemical and biological properties of soil and water
  • Laboratory and research
    • best practices for operating laboratory equipment alongside advanced research skills to synthesize complex, multi-source data

You'll also strengthen essential workplace skills in critical thinking, project management, time management and conflict mediation.
