Dr. Dan Angel was named the sixth president of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ on June 16, 1992. The former Michigan state representative began his Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ tenure living in Gibbs Hall while the president’s house was undergoing renovation. With degrees from Wayne State University, Angel earned a Ph.D. in communication from Purdue University in 1965. He led Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµâ€™s first major fund-raising initiative (leading to an expansion of academic scholarships), and the creation of a new doctorate in educational leadership, new master’s degree programs and the School of Social Work. Upon his resignation from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ in 1999, Angel became president of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
