ĢƵ Wind Ensemble to perform works by Grainger, Grantham, guest composer Love
ACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program “Solace” when the band performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the ĢƵ campus.
Under the direction of Dr. Tamey Anglley, director of bands at ĢƵ, the ensemble will perform works by Percy Grainger, Emmanuel Chabrier, Donald Grantham and guest composer Joel Love.
ĢƵ forestry student completes internship with South Africa game reserve
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — From the moment Jake Hill’s flight landed in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, he knew the next three months of his life would be unlike any other he had experienced.
“I got off the plane at noon on a Friday, and the reserve manager picked me up and said, ‘I know you’re a bit tired, but we’ve got to go dart some cape buffalo,’” said Hill, a senior studying forest wildlife management at Stephen F. Austin State University. “I hadn’t even unpacked, and I was out darting buffalo in need of medical attention.”
ĢƵ Chamber Singers to perform Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, other works
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Chamber Singers at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program “Haste On, my Joys!” when the student choral ensemble performs at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, in Cole Concert Hall on the ĢƵ campus.
The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at ĢƵ, along with Grant Peterson, graduate conductor from Wylie.
ĢƵ offers Accountancy Pathway to CPA for working professionals
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Business professionals who want to reap the benefits of licensure as a CPA have the opportunity through a new program offered by Stephen F. Austin State University’s Rusche College of Business.
The Accountancy Pathway to CPA, an online and online-interactive curriculum, is designed for experienced, working professionals interested in obtaining the courses required to sit for the CPA exam.

Mangham Jr. Regional Airport to officially celebrate the arrival of the ĢƵ aviation initiative’s three Piper 100i advanced aircraft.
Recital to highlight works for flute, piano
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Selected works for flute and piano by Eric Ewazen, Jake Heggie and Stephen Lias will be showcased in a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at First Baptist Church, Nacogdoches.
Samantha Inman, assistant professor and coordinator of music theory for the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University, and Tracy Cole, piano accompanist for Lufkin ISD, First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and the newly established Stone Fort Chorale, will present “21st Century Works for Flute and Piano.”
New ĢƵ music faculty member Eason to present recital
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A faculty recital that reflects on life through folk music, nature and spiritual allegory will be presented by the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University.
New music faculty member Bob Eason, saxophone, will perform with guest artist Michael Seregow, piano, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the ĢƵ campus.
ĢƵ Office of Multicultural Affairs to host Homecoming Stroll-Off
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will host the annual Homecoming Stroll-Off at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.
“Strolling can be attributed to the historically Black fraternities and sororities in the early 1900s,” said Veronica Beavers, director of the OMA. “This was a time when many African Americans faced discrimination and obstacles at college institutions. Strolling and stepping showed pride, strength and unity among these organizations.”
