NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Biology will host the official opening of the William W. Gibson Entomarium at 1 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the Miller Science Building, Room 209.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Mix'n Matches jazz trio in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

Mix'n Matches is the professional local group comprised of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ School of Music faculty members Larry Greer on guitar, Brad Meyer on drums and J.D. Salas on bass. Special guest for this performance will be Eric Chin on keyboards.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Jerome Witkin, considered one of America's most important living figurative artists, will serve as juror for the 20th anniversary of Texas National, Stephen F. Austin State University's annual art competition and exhibition.

"We are very honored to have a juror of such stature as Mr. Witkin for the 20th anniversary of the Texas National," said John Handley, director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ galleries. "The art critic Kenneth Baker has said of Mr. Witkin that his only peer was the British painter Lucian Freud. That's quite a compliment."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Trombone Choir in a recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

"The Trombone Choir will perform a festive concert with a selection of popular and jazz songs that will commemorate International Trombone Week," said Dr. Deb Scott, associate professor of trombone at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and the director of the Trombone Choir.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present a performance of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Wind Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

"Celebrations," a concert of band music, will feature guest conductor Kevin "Kit" Thompson, University of Macau, and the world premiere of "Kennecott" by Dr. Stephen Lias, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ professor of composition.

Thompson will conduct the band in Gordon Jacob's "Old Wine in New Bottles."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - El Centro College of the Dallas County Community College District and the School of Human Sciences at Stephen F. Austin State University have agreed to a comprehensive articulation agreement between the institutions' hospitality programs.

Under the new collaborative agreement, students will be able to transfer up to 66 total credit hours to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, including 30 hours from El Centro's food and hospitality program. They will then be able to transfer and complete remaining requirements for the Bachelor of Science in hospitality administration from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Early Childhood Lab and the Greater East Texas Community Action Program's Head Start Program invite Nacogdoches residents to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child April 6-12, a national celebration honoring young children and those who make a difference in their lives.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University dance program within the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science will present "Danceworks," featuring choreography by students, faculty members and guest artists. Concerts are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 10 and 11 and 3 p.m. April 12 in the dance studio of the Norton HPE Complex, Room 201, on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -Stephen F. Austin State University theatre major Daniel Miller of Houston was recently selected as one of two national Alpha Psi Omega Scholarship recipients for 2014-2015.
