Rosie didn't get mad when she was three months pregnant and doctors diagnosed her husband, Ted, with leukemia. Six months later, when their son, Joseph, was born, Rosie brought him home from the hospital and began to care for him and his older sister, while at the same time helping her husband deal with the effects of chemotherapy.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music and Cole Performing Arts Series will present pianist Dr. Kiyoshi Tamagawa in a guest recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its 2013-2014 University Series "Live Out Loud," the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts, along with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Theatre, will present "Dead Man's Cell Phone" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Oct. 8 through 12, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus. A special 2 p.m. matinee performance will also be presented on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ announces fall enrollment figures


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University has recorded a fall enrollment of 12,772 students.

This figure represents a slight decrease from the all-time high Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ enrollment of 12,999 recorded in fall 2012. University officials attributed the 1.7-percent decrease to various factors, including higher Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ admission standards and graduation of the largest class in school history in May.

Austin State University School of Music will present Dr. Nathan Nabb, associate professor of saxophone, and Dr. Brad Meyer, director of percussion studies, in a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ music faculty to be featured in fundraising concert


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Faculty members of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will be the featured performers during the annual Pi Kappa Lambda Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

"This concert showcases the talents of our diverse faculty," said Deborah Dalton, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ associate professor of voice and president of the local chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society.

East Texas Historical Association to present Lale Lecture Sept. 26


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The East Texas Historical Association will present the 17th Georgiana and Max S. Lale Lecture in September at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Dr. Quintard Taylor of the University of Washington will speak at 7:30 p.m., Thursday Sept. 26, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.

When Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College opened its doors in 1923, the emphasis was in establishing an instructional program that would produce qualified teachers.

In addition to the academic and elective courses offered at the new college, athletics also was immediately incorporated into campus life with students choosing the Lumberjack as the Stephen F. Austin mascot.
