NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Since January, 15 Stephen F. Austin State University theatre students and their directors have been collaborating on the script, rehearsing lines and perfecting musical numbers for the upcoming performances of "Purple Daze: A Student's Guide to Surviving Four (or More) Years At Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ."
The (New) Original Cast, the School of Theatre's musical cabaret troupe, will present the play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23; at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25. All shows are in the Downstage Theatre of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.
Former Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ band director to guest conduct
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Dr. Kevin Sedatole, former band director at Stephen F. Austin State University, will return to campus to guest conduct the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Wind Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, in Cole Concert Hall.
Sedatole is one of five guest conductors who will be leading the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony during the concert, which precedes the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ bands' annual conducting symposium the next day.
Sedatole, who taught at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ from 1991 to 1996, will be the clinician. He is currently director of bands and chair of the conducting area at Michigan State University.
Poetry and music education topic of free lecture
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Mark E. Turner, associate professor of elementary music education for Stephen F. Austin State University, will deliver a lecture, "Rhythm, Language and Meaning: Expanding on the Research of Daniel Levitin," from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the Music Recital Hall (Room 160) of the Wright Music Building.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - A collaborative project between Stephen F. Austin State University student writers and artists will culminate in the opening of "Pen, Pigment & Metal: Collaborate" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in Griffith Gallery, located in Griffith Fine Arts Building, Room 208.
For the project, fiction-writing students, under the direction of Assistant Professor Andrew Brininstool, wrote short stories that the art metal/jewelry students, directed by Assistant Professor Lauren B. Selden, responded to by creating three-dimensional works of art.
