New Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ license plates hit the road

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ art galleries closed during Thanksgiving break


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Art galleries operated by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will close Wednesday, Nov. 23, for the Thanksgiving holidays and reopen Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Currently on display in the on-campus Griffith Gallery is "Art of the Pacific Rim: Artifacts and Art from Northwest America, Oceania, Melanesia, Asia and Central America."

The exhibition, which comprises over 30 masks, weapons, dolls and artifacts from the private collection of Nacogdoches residents Dr. Robert Gruebel and Jo Ellen H. Carlson, will close on Friday, Dec. 16.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ director named nursing ambassador


Dr. Glenda Walker, director of the Richard and Lucille Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ of Nursing at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, recently named a National League for Nursing ambassador.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ children's series to present 'Pinocchio'


American Family Theater, Inc. will bring the classic story of "Pinocchio" to life at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium as part of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts' Children's Performing Arts Series. Seats are still available for both performances.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ College of Fine Arts offers holiday entertainment


Celtic fiddler Eileen Ivers and her band, Immigrant Soul, will present "An Nollaig: An Irish Christmas" as part of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ College of Fine Arts' University Series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. Tickets are currently on sale for all of the holiday events offered by the college in December.

Alumna to perform with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Wind Ensemble


Gunnery Sgt. Vicki Gotcher, a native of Jacksonville and an Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ alumna, will be the clarinet soloist during the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Wind Ensemble's concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Repertory Dance Company to perform in concert


The Stephen F. Austin State University Repertory Dance Company will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 and 18, and again at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Lucille Norton HPE Complex, Room 201. The concert will feature works by dance program faculty, guest artists and senior choreographers.

Professor Stan Bobo contributes "After Midnight Before Dawn," a tap piece about zombies. Adjunct faculty member Heather Samuelson is premiering No Strings Attached and has restaged "Broken Darkness," a piece she created last spring for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ dance program.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to hold International Education Week


The Office of International Programs at Stephen F. Austin State University will celebrate International Education Week Monday, Nov. 14, through Friday, Nov. 18. The event is an opportunity to explore the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

The kick-off reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Regents Suite B.

Panel discussion expands on Heliker exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As an expansion of the exhibition "John Heliker: Drawing on the New Deal 1932-1948," the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will host a panel discussion on the famed American artist and his work at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ orchestra to present 'On a Romantic Note' concert


Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Associate Professor Deb Scott will be the featured trombone soloist during the Orchestra of the Pines' concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.
