The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Department of English Reading Series presents novelist Ladette Randolph and poet Kristin Naca at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 in the Liberal Arts North building, Room 102.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to screen 'Art and Copy'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Advertising slogans such as "Just Do It," "I Love NY," "Where's the Beef?" and "got milk?" are explored in Doug Pray's documentary "Art & Copy," which the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will present at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

The free, one-night screening is a part of the monthly film series sponsored in part by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Friends of the Visual Arts. The Ad Design program at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ is also sponsoring this screening.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to offer children's puppet-making class


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS-Area 6- to 12-year-olds may register for a puppet-making class offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House as part of the Creative Art Saturday program.

Under the guidance of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Instructor of art Matthew Sutherlin and art education majors, participants will discuss the art of puppetry and engage in the creation and performance of puppets.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Wind Ensemble presents 'Welcome Home' concert


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Following a five-concert tour of high schools in Central and East Texas, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Wind Ensemble will present its "Welcome Home" concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

Avoid parking problems at Liverpool Legends


NACOGDOCHES - With approximately 1,000 people expected at Friday's Liverpool Legends concert in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's W.M. Turner Auditorium, the College of Fine Arts recommends that attendees allow time for parking.

"We have ample parking for our patrons, but the number of spaces on Alumni Drive immediately in front of the Griffith Fine Arts Building is limited," said Diane Flynn, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Box Office manager. "Plus, most of those will be reserved for our VIP patrons who have purchased a special parking pass."

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Regents approves new admission standards


Stephen F. Austin State University will increase its admission standards for first-time freshmen beginning with the fall 2012 semester.

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Regents approved the change at a Monday board meeting based on a recommendation from the university's administration. Raising freshman admission standards is one of the goals included in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's comprehensive five-year strategic plan.

Geographic Information System professionals, educators, public safety officials, economic development groups and natural resource managers will discuss advancements in geospatial applications during the East Texas Geospatial Conference Jan. 26-30 at Stephen F. Austin State University.
