As a student seeking a master's degree in conducting, you’ll have the opportunity to attain professional-level skills and background in the art of serving as music director for large performing ensembles.
In this program, you'll hone:
- your command of rehearsal techniques for various performing forces
- learn how to analyze and interpret musical scores
- and develop appropriate conducting practices for communicating musical interpretation.
Most of all, you'll have the opportunity to synthesize your musicianship with great leadership skills to become an inspiring artist on the podium.
To accommodate those who already hold teaching jobs, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ offers low-residency options for this degree.
This concentration is offered on campus for students attending in person. While pursuing this concentration, students engage extensively with faculty and campus facilities and will also take some courses delivered through the university’s learning management systems. In some cases, students may choose between fulfilling a requirement through an online or a face-to-face course. Even courses delivered in face-to-face formats may incorporate online tools for discussion, feedback, and assignment submission.
