ĢƵ’s SRT program garners industry accolades for its COVID-safe Dante use
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Last summer, digital audio networking world leader Audinate published an article commending the Stephen F. Austin State University’s Sound Recording Technology program for its use of Audinate’s cutting-edge Dante networking platform.
The article explained that by using a Dante-backed audio-over-IP system, SRT could alter workflow so multiple students were actively engaging with a production – allowing for more hands-on educational opportunities.
ĢƵ UPD uses new vehicles to engage with community
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University Police Department has acquired two new community relations vehicles. These vehicles will help promote UPD’s mission statement of providing a safe environment for all students, faculty and staff on campus.
“The CRVs allow us to interact with people on campus in a new and safe way,” said Robert McDonald, UPD police officer II. “We can be more present on the campus and better establish a relationship with community members.”
Former Nacogdoches mayor headlines fifth annual teach-in
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Nacogdoches community members and Stephen F. Austin State University students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the fifth annual International Women’s Teach-In from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24 virtually on Zoom or in person in Room 201 of the Human Sciences Building North on the ĢƵ campus.
Sponsored by ĢƵ’s Organization for Women’s Leadership and Equity, or OWLE, the teach-in will kick off with a session by Judy McDonald, former Nacogdoches mayor and the namesake of the city’s public library.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Rehearsal time lost during spring break is always a consideration for the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music as it prepares to present the ĢƵ Opera Theater each spring.
But throw in an additional seven days of lost rehearsal time caused by an unprecedented winter storm that shut down the entire state of Texas for a week, and you have a situation that demands creative, detailed scheduling to make up for lost time.

Austin State University’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture are working with the National Park Service and Florida State Parks to ensure the history and stories of African Americans and other people of color are properly represented in interpretive site programming.

Don Derby attire and support ĢƵ students at fundraising dinner, auction
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Students in Stephen F. Austin State University’s hospitality administration program invite you to celebrate the Kentucky Derby on April 9, with dinner, drinks and a silent auction at The Fredonia Hotel.
The third annual Hospitality Shindig begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar reception featuring a bourbon tasting. Dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., will be prepared and served by ĢƵ hospitality administration students.
Derby attire, including fancy hats, pastel dresses, seersucker suits and bow ties, is encouraged.
ĢƵ seniors selected for new Brazosport ISD paid clinical teaching program
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Three seniors in Stephen F. Austin State University’s James I. Perkins College of Education were selected for a new paid clinical teaching/internship program launched this spring by Brazosport Independent School District. Only 10 students from multiple colleges were chosen for the program.
Noelle Benavides and Kristen Truitt of Pearland and Ashali Carter of Houston underwent a thorough application and interview process for the paid clinical teaching positions at BISD.
Management students find value in community service
When Sharron and Roy Alston came to Nacogdoches in 1968, the azaleas and the dogwoods were in bloom, and Roy, a doctorate in math in need of a job, was offered a position in the ĢƵ math department. All of it was just too much to turn down.

Four decades later, in 2008, Roy retired. He and Sharron, the parents of two sons, live out on four acres north of town. Life is good. But it's also catching up with them. What used to be easy isn't easy anymore, especially when it comes to keeping up with a big piece of land.
Business students exhibit leadership as president, vice president of Student Government Association
Both the president and the vice president of the Student Government Association for the 2020-2021 academic year are students in the Rusche College of Business. Chris Moore and Bre'Anna Locke are in office for their last year on campus, as both are expected to graduate in May.
President Moore, of Carrollton, and Vice President Locke, of Dallas, took office in April.
