ĢƵ awarded $134K grant to support parenting students


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University has been awarded a $134,200 grant through the Data-to-Action for Parenting Students Grant program.

The grant is administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in partnership with the Urban Institute, a nonprofit research organization that provides data and evidence to advance upward mobility and improve the well-being of families and communities.

Prince tribute to open 2025-26 University Series


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Marshall Charloff & The Purple xPeRIeNCE, known as the most authentic celebration of Prince in the world, will kick off Stephen F. Austin State University’s University Series at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Turner Auditorium in the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

The band returns to Nacogdoches following tremendous success of their 2018 University Series performance and enthusiastic response from the university and surrounding communities.

ĢƵ student investment portfolio grows to $2.73M

Austin State University students are managing an investment portfolio valued at approximately $2.73 million following a recent contribution from The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company to the Mast Student Investment Roundtable Fund in the ĢƵ.

James Adams named recipient of UT System’s 2025 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– James Adams, associate professor and director of Stephen F. Austin State University’s sound recording technology program, was named a recipient of The University of Texas System’s 2025 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. The recognition marks the first time an ĢƵ faculty member has received the award since the university joined the UT System.

ĢƵ Sylvans set records, win 42nd annual Arkansas State Lumberjack Collegiate Championship


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s timbersports team, the Sylvans, placed first in the 42nd annual Arkansas State Lumberjack Collegiate Championship. The team of 34 Lumberjacks competed against the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Louisiana Tech University, Southern Illinois University and Oklahoma State University in seven physical events over the first weekend of October.

ĢƵ’s Greule awarded Texas Broadcast Educator of the Year


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Dr. Al Greule, associate professor emeritus in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Media and Communication, has been named Broadcast Educator of the Year by the Texas Association of Broadcasters.

Greule received the award, which recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of outstanding leaders in the broadcasting field, during TAB’s annual convention in Round Rock.

ĢƵ awarded $1.3M grant to expand support for first-generation students


Stephen F. Austin State University has been awarded a five-year, $1.36 million federal TRIO Student Support Services grant from the U.S. Department of Education to expand Generation Jacks, ĢƵ's first-generation student success program housed within the Cole Student Success Center.

Through the TRIO SSS grant, ĢƵ's GenJacks program capacity will increase from about 130 students to more than 300 annually — an increase of more than 150%.

ĢƵ launches Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Arnold Center for Entrepreneurship selected 16 faculty members to participate in the inaugural Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program, an initiative designed to integrate entrepreneurial education across all academic disciplines.

ĢƵ celebrates Homecoming with calendar full of events


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University has a full calendar of events for Homecoming 2025, including the annual bonfire, drone show and concert featuring award-winning country duo Maddie & Tae beginning at 8 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Intramural Fields.  

The fun begins today with the launch of ĢƵ Alumni Association’s online Homecoming Auction 2025. Through Oct. 19, participants can bid on items ranging from custom ĢƵ creations to exciting travel packages. All proceeds go toward ĢƵ Alumni Association student and alumni programming.
