Delaney estate jewelry sale to benefit ĢƵ scholarships


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The estate of the late Nancy Delaney will fund two endowed scholarships for deserving students within Stephen F. Austin State University’s School of Art and College of Fine Arts.

The scholarships will be funded in part through proceeds from a jewelry sale planned for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

ĢƵ Gardens to host Veggie Gardening 101 workshop


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host a Veggie Gardening 101 workshop to share methods for growing successful vegetables in East Texas.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon March 21 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building, Room 101, at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

ĢƵ Percussion Studio to coordinate ‘Unsilent Night’ interactive event


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Percussion Studio at Stephen F. Austin State University and its director, Dr. Brad Meyer, will host its 3rd annual interactive community performance of Phil Kline’s “Unsilent Night” starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Wright Music Building’s College Street entrance.

ĢƵ to screen ‘Chicken People’


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of the documentary “Chicken People” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

ĢƵ expands initiatives for student success


Stephen F. Austin State University is on a mission to help students graduate more quickly and with less debt, and departments across the campus, including two newly created teams, are working to implement changes to meet this goal.

According to Dr. Scott Gordon, ĢƵ president, the university is laser focused on student success and on-time completion in order to assist students in achieving their dreams.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Mark Weathington, director of the JC Raulston Arboretum at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, will present, “Beyond Tire Planters: Gardening in the South.”

ĢƵ music faculty Bissen, Oh to present ‘La Vie Antérieure’


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a faculty saxophone and piano recital at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in Cole concert Hall on the ĢƵ campus.

Nicholas Bissen, adjunct professor of saxophone, and Hyun Ji Oh, collaborative pianist, will present the program “La Vie Antérieure,” which is also the title of a work on the program and translates to “The Former Life.” The program oscillates between moments of reckless indulgence and nostalgic reference, but never with regret, according to Bissen.

Dailey & Vincent to perform holiday concert at ĢƵ


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The award-winning multi-Grammy nominated duo Dailey & Vincent will ring in the holiday season with “A Springer Mountain Farms Christmas” performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

The performance, sponsored in part by Commercial Bank of Texas, is a presentation of the College of Fine Arts and the University Series.

ĢƵ Gala to honor outstanding faculty members


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Two outstanding Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members will be honored during the 30th annual ĢƵ Gala Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.
