Dr. Le'Ann Solmonson, Stephen F. Austin State University professor in the counselor education program and chair-elect of the Faculty Senate, has been named the American Association of University Women's Woman of the Year for higher education. Solmonson also was appointed as a trustee to the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens will host an Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center located at 2900 Raguet St.

The event, held in conjunction with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens Mast Arboretum spring plant sale, is a family-friendly gathering that aims to engage the community in the outdoors and sustainable living.

Stephen F. Austin State University interior design students built cardboard furniture to learn about casegoods (storage cabinetry) construction and sustainable design. The furniture is displayed on the second floor of the Steen Library on the university campus.

Cole Art Center's Warhol exhibition to close with open house


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The exhibition "Andy Warhol: Art Is Anything You Can Get Away With," showing in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, will close with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25.

The exhibition features a small slice of the renowned artist's enormous oeuvre, in particular, his "Silver Clouds" - helium-filled silver clouds that drift in the air. The exhibition also includes three of his large screen prints and several of his Polaroid photos.
