The installation "Napoleon's Wallpaper" by Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Art faculty Candace Hicks is like a room-sized book telling a story while presenting a puzzle. This installation along with the "Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Faculty Exhibition" opens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Center for Regional Heritage Research receives grant for 3-D preservation of Caddo artifacts

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University has been awarded a $39,600 grant from the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training to digitally preserve and study hundreds of Caddo ceramics obtained from archaeological sites throughout East Texas.

Huckaby art exhibition to close with reception


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The exhibition "Sedrick Huckaby: Quiet Dialogues" will close with a reception with the artist in attendance from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The exhibition, which features expressive oil paintings with heavy applications of impasto depicting members of Huckaby's African-American family, has been on display since July 25. The exhibition also features a selection of prints and drawings from his recently completed "99 Percent" suite.

Dr. Leon Young and his students take a break from soil fertility lessons to visit their vegetable plots. As a commercial venture in addition to their family's subsistence farms, the men hope to grow leafy vegetables during the dry season to sell to the region's emerging middle class.
