If you have an urgent mental health concern during regular business hours, stop by the Health and Wellness Hub for a walk-in crisis appointment with a counselor. There also are several 24/7 crisis hotlines ready to help.

No cost. Confidential. Confrontation-free. Judgement-free.

BASICS is designed to assist you in examining your drinking behavior in a confidential environment that is confrontation- and judgment-free. This is not an abstinence-only program; goals are aimed at reducing risky behaviors and potential harmful consequences.

Who should enroll?

We encourage you to enroll if

  • you're noticing alcohol may be affecting your well-being or academics
  • you want to learn more about how to stay safe while drinking alcohol
  • you're reflecting on past experience involving substances
  • or you're thinking about changing your use.

Program details

The BASICS program consists of two 60-minute sessions with personalized feedback.

Session One: Small group

Your group will meet with a facilitator who will provide an overview of the BASICS program. You'll set expectations, engage in two interactive group activities and complete a personal assessment.

Session Two: One-on-one

You and your facilitator will meet one-on-one to review your assessment and discuss strategies to reduce current and future risks associated with alcohol use. Resources will be provided for continued support.
