ĢƵ announces Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath as Distinguished High School Program partners


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — On Tuesday, Stephen F. Austin State University announced its naming of Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath high schools as partner schools chosen for inclusion in the university’s Distinguished High School Program.

This partnership means that top-ranking graduates from the high schools will be automatically eligible for scholarships worth up to $20,000. Inclusion in the program also means all Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath students may waive the $50 application fee, and seniors ranking in the top 30% of their class are guaranteed admission to ĢƵ.

ĢƵ’s Roberts wins World Wide Kitsch Competition in art


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The artwork of Shaun Roberts, associate professor of art at Stephen F. Austin State University, was awarded first place and selected as People’s Choice Award in the World Wide Kitsch Competition 2021.

ĢƵ Regents acknowledge audit reports


The Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents met Sunday and acknowledged receipt of 2020-2021 Annual Financial Report and an audit services report that showed the university is in solid financial health.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University announced on Wednesday its naming of Hudson High School as a partner school chosen for inclusion in the university’s Distinguished High School Program.

ĢƵ, TJC host work session and sign articulation agreement to bolster academic pathways for students


An agreement signed Wednesday between Stephen F. Austin State University and Tyler Junior College increases the number of transitional academic pathways offered between the two institutions, making it easier for students to pursue a higher education in East Texas.

The articulation agreement builds on a long-standing partnership between ĢƵ and TJC, with other program-specific agreements already established in such areas as biochemistry, psychology, geospatial science, and human development and family studies.

ĢƵ alum to offer December commencement address


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Gerald W. “Jerry” Schlief, Stephen F. Austin State University alumnus and president and CEO of Auterra Energy LLC, will offer the commencement addresses during the university’s three graduation ceremonies Saturday.

Schlief received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and served as an innovative leader in the independent oil and gas industry in Houston. He has served on the ĢƵSU Foundation Board of Trustees since 2008 and currently serves as chair.

ĢƵ partners with Panola College to offer ADN-BSN concurrent program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University and Panola College recently announced an academic partnership in which students have the opportunity to complete an associate degree and Bachelor of Science in Nursing concurrently.

Administrators from the two schools signed an articulation agreement in November on ĢƵ’s campus to make the partnership official.

“This is a tremendous partnership,” said Dr. Scott Gordon, ĢƵ president. “The relationship between ĢƵ and Panola College is one that is longstanding, and this strengthens that relationship even more.”

ĢƵ’s educator preparation program receives national accreditation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University educator preparation program has earned a seven-year national accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. 

ĢƵ School of Theatre earns numerous KCACTF honors


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The School of Theatre at Stephen F. Austin State University was honored by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival with numerous awards and nominations for the school’s fall semester plays “Bootycandy” and “Ajax in Iraq.”

Dr. David Creech to be ĢƵ Gardens’ December lecture series speaker


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Dr. David Creech, ĢƵ Gardens director and professor emeritus of agriculture, will present “ĢƵ Gardens: The Plants, People, and Plans for the Challenges Ahead.”
