ĢƵ announces recipients of 2022 Research and Creative Activity grants
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies has announced the recipients of its annual Research and Creative Activity grants. The RCA grant program was created to help support the initial research efforts of ĢƵ faculty members and to help prepare them and their research for submission to national grant programs.

ĢƵ students assist the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in collecting statewide data on park visitation
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Each year, more than 8 million people visit the 90 state parks, historic sites and natural areas managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. In order to continue to meet the needs of visitors and offer relevant programming that reaches all Texans, the agency seeks to better understand exactly who these guests are and what motivates them to visit. Three Stephen F. Austin State University graduate students are crisscrossing the state to find out.
‘In Shakespeare and the Bible’ rescheduled for March 18-19
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre’s presentation of the student-directed one-act play “In Shakespeare and the Bible,” originally slated for Feb. 4 and 5, has been rescheduled for March 18 and 19.
The play had to be rescheduled due to the campus closure on Feb. 4 in expectation of inclement weather.
Thornton Wilder’s “In Shakespeare and the Bible” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the ĢƵ campus.
Beethoven’s Triple Concerto highlight of ĢƵ Symphony Orchestra concert
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Symphony Orchestra at Stephen F. Austin State University will present Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and other noted orchestral compositions when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Cole Concert Hall on the ĢƵ campus.
ĢƵ to host Pineywoods Horn Day
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University will host Pineywoods Horn Day 2022 Saturday, Feb. 19, in Wright Music Building on the ĢƵ campus.
The all-day event will feature a presentation by and master class with Nacogdoches native and ĢƵ alumnus John Dickson, along with clinics and sessions with Dr. Tamey Anglley, director of bands at ĢƵ; Dr. Andrea Denis, assistant professor of horn at ĢƵ; and noted horn instructors Karen Houghton and Janet Nye.

Austin State University Office of Multicultural Affairs’ eighth annual Diversity Conference, “Engaged and Empowered: Overcoming the Invisible,” will examine diversity, equity and inclusion by providing a platform for presenters to share diversity-related work with conference attendees and engage in vital multicultural dialogue.
ĢƵ’s Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to perform works by Adams, Bryant, Ticheli
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band at Stephen F. Austin State University will present “Messages of Hope,” a program featuring works that evoke hope, encouragement and healing, when the student ensembles perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the Grand Ballroom in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the ĢƵ campus.
Directed by Dr. Chris Kaatz, assistant director of bands at ĢƵ, the Symphonic Band’s program explores the idea of “hope amidst tragedy,” Kaatz said.
