'In Shakespeare and the Bible' rescheduled for March 18-19
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre’s presentation of the student-directed one-act play “In Shakespeare and the Bible,” originally slated for Feb. 4 and 5, has been rescheduled for March 18 and 19.
The play was rescheduled due to the campus closure on Feb. 4 in expectation of inclement weather.
“In Shakespeare and the Bible” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the ĢƵ campus.
Lumi Trio to perform works of living composers
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Lumi Trio will present a program of works by living composers when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
The trio includes Ruby Chia-Yun Yeh, clarinet; Daniela Diaz, violin; and Dr. Minhae Lee, piano. Lee recently joined the faculty of the School of Music at ĢƵ as assistant professor of piano.

ĢƵ Student Recreation Center to host regional basketball club tournament
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Campus Recreation hosted the regional basketball tournament featuring 12 total teams in both men’s and women’s competitions.
The National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association’s South Division had its Club Basketball Conference Tournament at the Student Recreation Center on Feb. 19 and 20. The event brought as many as 150 student-athletes to town.
ĢƵ Music Prep, CVB to present Music, Arts Festival downtown
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Music Preparatory Division at Stephen F. Austin State University, in partnership with the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, will host a Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 23, in downtown Nacogdoches.
The family friendly outdoor music festival is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and takes place on the downtown square. It will feature student music and dance performances, local artists, exhibit booths, children’s games and more, according to Alba Madrid, director of the Music Prep program in the School of Music.
Forestry students represent ĢƵ, receive statewide recognition at the 2022 Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society conference
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Ten undergraduate students and five graduate students represented Stephen F. Austin State University’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at the 2022 Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society conference held last week in Horseshoe Bay.
In addition to oral and poster presentations delivered by students, the ĢƵ student chapter of The Wildlife Society placed second in the statewide Quiz Bowl, finishing only one point behind the winning team.
Horticulture consultant Steve Dobbs to be ĢƵ Gardens’ March lecture series speaker
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host the monthly Les and Theresa Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.
Steve Dobbs, a horticulture consultant with Oklahoma State University’s Landscape Services, will present “Creative Design and Horticulture on the Oklahoma State University Campus.”

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — In recognition of the United Nations World Water Day, Stephen F. Austin State University, the City of Nacogdoches and Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful invite the surrounding community to participate in a litter cleanup of Lanana Creek and Lake Nacogdoches’ Eastside Park from 10 a.m. to noon March 19.
“We are extremely fortunate for the water resources available to us in East Texas, and it is important that we are good stewards of this precious supply,” said Sarah Fuller, outreach coordinator with ĢƵ’s Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture.
