NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of the Academy Award-winning Disney Pixar film “Inside Out” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Directed by Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, “Inside Out” is an inventive animated film that takes the audience on a journey to discover the “emotional roller coaster ride inside your head,” according to information at movies.disney.com.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Registration is continuing for Junior Jacks Theatre Camp at Stephen F. Austin State University. The popular two-week School of Theatre camp is designed for children entering third through ninth grades. This year’s camp is scheduled for Monday, July. 31, through Saturday, Aug. 12. Registration deadline is July 28.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Enrollment for children ages 6 through 9 is still available in Stephen F. Austin State University’s STEM Research and Learning Center’s Lil’ STEM Jacks, which runs July 25 and 26 on the Ģ����Ƶ campus.

Lil’ STEM Jacks captures children’s attention in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by providing opportunities to learn and play in hands-on activities related to STEM disciplines.

Austin State University’s Ģ����Ƶ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13, in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. Greg Grant will present “A Bright Spot in the Heart of Texas: The Idea Garden.”

Grant is horticulturist for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Smith County. He also is an award-winning writer, conservationist and seventh-generation Texan from Arcadia, Texas.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Silent bidding in this year’s 12x12 scholarship fundraiser for the Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University is underway at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The silent auction features 12-by-12-inch pieces of art created by approximately 70 artists from Nacogdoches, Lufkin and other areas of East Texas. Anyone may silently bid on the unique one-of-a-kind pieces, according to Crystal Hicks, event committee chairwoman.

Stephen F. Austin State University students from the hospitality administration and filmmaking programs traveled to France in May to participate in the 70th Cannes International Film Festival, which celebrates cinematographic art with various red-carpet events, workshops, seminars, film screenings and more.

Ģ����Ƶ students worked at the American Pavilion, the center of activity at the festival for the American film community, and networked and engaged in various experiential-learning opportunities.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University students in the School of Human Sciences recently traveled to Chicago to attend the National Restaurant Association Show.

During this four-day exhibit, students learned from industry professionals through education sessions, as well as sampled unique culinary dishes, viewed emerging field techniques and technologies, and more.
