ĢƵ students earn top honors at US Soccer Student Hackathon during 2025 World Cup Innovation Summit


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Students in Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ earned first place at the U.S. Soccer Student Hackathon during the 2025 World Cup Innovation Summit last month in Frisco.

“The hackathon is part of ongoing efforts to foster innovation and analytics in sport, with ĢƵ students standing out among national peers,” said Dr. Derek Walton, assistant professor of sports business who advised the ĢƵ team.

ĢƵ students leave mark in Austin during Legislative Internship Program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Through Stephen F. Austin State University’s Legislative Internship Program, five students served during the 89th Texas Legislature and learned the intricacies of Texas lawmaking and civic leadership. While gaining hands-on experiences, they left a strong impression in Austin.

ĢƵ announces sports sponsorship changes


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University announced today that it will reduce the number of athletics programs it sponsors by four, effective at the end of the current academic year. The decision was based on sustained departmental budget deficits and the anticipated financial impact of upcoming revenue-sharing requirements with Division I athletes.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Students from Stephen F. Austin State University’s School of Theatre and Dance recently returned from an immersive five-day trip into the heart of Broadway and the performing arts industry, as part of the program’s inaugural industry intensive in New York City.
