NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Friends of Music will accept reservations through noon Monday, April 18, for Extravaganza 29, Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music's annual gala banquet. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the Grand Ballroom of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's Baker Pattillo Student Center.

Symphonic, University bands to present 'Inspiration' program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The University Band and the Symphonic Band at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the concert program "Inspiration" when the bands perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

The selected works to be performed were inspired by folk songs and dances, tragic life events and the dream of flight, according to Dr. James Dreiling, interim assistant director of bands at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Teaching Excellence Convocation to honor faculty members April 13


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members will be recognized for their teaching abilities at the annual Teaching Excellence Convocation from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Regents' Suite A on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

An opening reception with music and refreshments is scheduled for 3 to 3:30 p.m. in the BPSC Regents' Suite B on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus. The reception and convocation are open to the public and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ community.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St., in Nacogdoches. Dr. Mike Arnold, Texas A&M University horticulture professor, will present "Sifting Ashes for a Phoenix and Other Tales from the Former Texas A&M Horticulture Garden."
