NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre event on Aug. 1 will help raise funds for theatre students to attend a special class in Edinburgh, Scotland, while they are participating in the two-week Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Eleven Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students who were injured in a bus crash during a study-abroad excursion in Peru have returned to the United States, and four remaining students will arrive back in Texas Thursday.
Fifteen students and two faculty members were passengers on a bus that left the roadway and crashed into a ravine on Saturday en route to Peru's Sacred Valley. They were taken to a hospital in Cusco, where they were examined by physicians. Several of the travelers sustained broken bones because of the accident.

Austin State University's Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, said some resulting effects such as air and water pollution are a concern to public health.
Music Prep scholarships due
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Scholarship applications to attend fall classes in the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music are due Aug. 1, according to Pat Barnett, Music Prep director.
"Serving approximately 200 students, the Music Preparatory Division is dedicated to the highest standard of music education, performance and outreach to the East Texas community," Barnett said.
Watercolor East Texas exhibition to open at Cole Art Center
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The 31st Watercolor East Texas juried exhibition will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
This year's juror is Marie Renfro, a nationally known artist from Plano who works in oil, acrylic and watercolor and uses various media to express her emotional response to a subject. Her work has received numerous awards and is included in major collections in the Dallas area.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Ryan Brown-Moreno of Plano has been appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to serve as Stephen F. Austin State University's student regent during the 2015-16 academic year.
Portraits of Freedom art exhibition to open June 13
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Ralph W. Steen Library will display the Portraits of Freedom art exhibition starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot, 101 Old Tyler Road.
Portraits of Freedom is a juried student art exhibition featuring runaway slaves from newspaper advertisements compiled by the Texas Runaway Slave Project. The exhibition will feature drawings, lithographs, paintings and screen prints created by art students at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, Texas Christian University and Lamar University.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The academic year at Stephen F. Austin State University may have ended, but the activity in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's School of Theatre is gearing up for the 2015 SummerStage Festival, which will feature two classics that are sure to please audiences of all ages.
This year's SummerStage Festival is slated for June 26 through July 17 and features Tennessee Williams' masterpiece "The Glass Menagerie" along with children's favorite "The Emperor's New Clothes: The Musical" by Karen Boettcher-Tate and Bill Francoeur.
