Education students prep for future professions in nation’s capital during legislative conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Nine students in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Education Studies traveled to Washington, D.C., in early June to learn firsthand what it felt like to advocate for their future professions to the U.S. Congress during the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s Washington Week.

Austin State University.

From students to educators … ĢƵ preparation provides win-win results for performers, audiences


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Patrons who visit the Stephen F. Austin State University campus to see the SummerStage Festival presentation of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will experience far more than they expected. Not only will they see and hear about the enchanting “Peanuts” world and sing along with captivating, fun music, they will witness the best that ĢƵ has to offer in fostering educational growth for its students in theatre, dance and music.

ĢƵ School of Art’s Hicks selected for Fulbright U.S. Scholar fellowship


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Candace Hicks, associate professor of art in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, has been selected to receive a Fulbright U.S. Scholar fellowship for the 2024-25 competition period.

Fulbright Scholar Awards are prestigious and competitive fellowships that provide unique opportunities for scholars to teach and conduct research abroad. For her Fulbright Scholar work, Hicks will complete a research and creative project in the Hauts-de-France region from January to July 2025.

ĢƵ’s Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation to host groundbreaking ceremony for new research facility


NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation will take a landmark step toward rural innovation in the deep East Texas region with the addition of the center’s new research facility. To celebrate this milestone, CARRI will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 1:30 p.m. June 18 at the location of the facility, 7308 U.S. Highway 59 N.
