Children invited to ĢƵ Gardens’ Little Princess Tea Party


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Princesses from across East Texas are invited to don their best ball gown and sip tea with friends during the ĢƵ Gardens' Little Princess Tea Party slated for April 13 in the Stephen F. Austin State University Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden.

Kindness is the theme for this year’s event, and two sessions will be offered — the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.

"The azalea garden creates a magical setting for young princesses and fairies to celebrate the natural beauty of East Texas,” said Kay Jenkins, ĢƵ Gardens educational programs coordinator.

ĢƵ music theory students to present research at conferences


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Three Stephen F. Austin State University graduate students enrolled in the online Readings in Music Theory class taught by Dr. Samantha Inman have been invited to make presentations on their research at prestigious conferences this spring.

Loree McCary named ĢƵ interim director of athletics


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Gina Oglesbee, Stephen F. Austin State University interim president, has named Loree McCary interim director of athletics effective March 11, the university announced Monday.

“Loree’s extensive experience and proven leadership within ĢƵ Athletics ideally position her to lead during this vital transition,” Oglesbee said in an email to campus Monday. “We eagerly anticipate Loree's interim leadership, focusing on continuing our legacy of excellence and community spirit within our athletic programs.”

Educators invited to share expertise at ĢƵ’s Lifelong Learning Conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The annual Lifelong Learning Conference, hosted through Stephen F. Austin State University’s Department of Education Studies, is accepting proposals through March 17 and will be held June 28 in ĢƵ’s Janice A. Pattillo Early Childhood Research Center.

This collaborative platform encourages educators to share innovative teaching practices and emerging research in a variety of presentation styles emphasizing this year’s theme of “Inspire! Create! Collaborate!”

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University announced Friday that athletics director Ryan Ivey has been named Louisiana Tech’s vice president and director of athletics. He joins the Ruston, Louisiana, university with more than 18 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics.

UT regents name Dr. Neal Weaver as sole finalist for president of Stephen F. Austin State University


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The University of Texas System Board of Regents has unanimously voted to name Neal Weaver, PhD, the sole finalist to become the next president of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Weaver has served as president of Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) — a member of the University of Georgia System based in Americus, Georgia — for the past seven years.
