NACOGDOCHES, Texas-Future college students will have the chance to experience a taste of college life when Stephen F. Austin State University hosts Showcase Saturday, an open house program, on Nov. 15.

Students will have the opportunity to speak with campus representatives, tour the campus and housing facilities, and preview programs that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ has to offer.

Mollie Marcuson, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ harp instructor, will be the featured soloist during the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Symphony Orchestra's concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Cole Concert Hall.

Austin State University College of Fine Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "Cherryholmes Bluegrass Christmas."

The musical rendition of Mark Twain's classic novel, which features songs by legendary country artist Roger Miller ("King of the Road"), will open at 7:30 p.m. in W.M. Turner Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov. 18, and run through Saturday, Nov. 22.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Dr. Larry King, professor of communication at Stephen F. Austin State University, has been asked to coordinate assessment activities related to the university's reaccreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of English and Philosophy will host award-winning poet B.H. Fairchild as part of the department's new reading series.

The poetry reading will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in Liberal Arts North, Room 102, on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus. The reading is sponsored by the Bachelor of Fine Arts in creative writing program at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Friends of Visual Arts will unveil 24 glass ornaments bearing original works of art by local artists during the opening of a scholarship fund-raiser, "Hooked on Art," from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

"The opening is being held in conjunction with the Downtown Art Walk," explained Marty Prince, president of the friends organization. "But the fund-raiser actually lasts through Saturday, Dec. 6."

Katarzyna Mycka is one of two internationally renowned marimbists who will be working with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ percussion students Nov. 2 through 4. She will also be a guest soloist during the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Percussion Ensemble's concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Cole Concert Hall.
