NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Five Stephen F. Austin State University graduates — Sofia Dettmers, Aaliyah Johnson, Ashton Maisel, Paige Vadnais and Marisa Wood — were recognized as inaugural inductees in the student affairs and higher education program’s honor society, Chi Sigma Alpha, during a ceremony held prior to their graduation in May.
Founded in 2001 at Virginia Tech, Chi Sigma Alpha is an international honor society to promote and recognize excellence in academics, research and service to the profession of student affairs and higher education administration.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University students received monetary awards and scholarships — many donated by Nacogdoches-area financial institutions — during an April 19 ceremony.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students explore hospitality, sports business careers at men’s Final Four
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — When the NCAA selected Houston as the location for its 2023 men’s basketball Final Four, a request for volunteers was sent across Texas in January. Several Stephen F. Austin State University hospitality administration and sports business students answered the call for the tournament held March 31 through April 3.
Responsibilities included checking in guests, assisting with event activations, scanning tickets and helping fans meet basketball players at the fan fest.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — During a one-day special-called meeting, the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents selected Kirksey Architecture to create a new forestry, agriculture and interdisciplinary facility and promoted Piero Fenci, professor of art, to professor emeritus.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Regents names interim president, accepts President Steve Westbrook’s retirement
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents today accepted the May 31 retirement of President Steve Westbrook and named Gina Oglesbee, vice president for finance and administration, as interim president beginning June 1. Oglesbee will serve as interim president until a new president is named. She will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens to host summer plant sale
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens will host a houseplant and succulent summer sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8 at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center greenhouse, located at 2900 Raguet St.
The sale will feature succulents, cacti and houseplants of various varieties, plus a small assortment of a few other plant types. This sale will be a much smaller event than the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Gardens semi-annual plant sales and will offer a specific selection of plants intended for indoor or special care.
