YouTube videos fill ĢƵ Art Academy void


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – For East Texas students who look forward to participating in the Art Academy each summer at Stephen F. Austin State University, news that the current COVID-19 pandemic had forced the academy’s cancellation this year was disappointing.

But, to fill that void, ĢƵ art education students put their talents to work creating art instruction videos that highlight art and cultural and historical art traditions.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A new concentration available through Stephen F. Austin State University’s Master of Education in educational leadership prepares students to become leaders in the field of public-school athletic administration.

Beginning this fall, the James I. Perkins College of Education at ĢƵ is offering an athletic director concentration that provides the needed skills and knowledge to effectively supervise both coaches and student-athletes.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — As the COVID-19 pandemic forced university campuses to close throughout the country, Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members moved their normally face-to-face courses online.

ĢƵ’s speech and language disorders center offering teletherapy this summer


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders at Stephen F. Austin State University will provide speech and/or language teletherapy beginning June 1 for current clients of all ages and anyone receiving services through the school system or other clinics closed due to COVID-19.

It also will offer a limited number of online evaluations for potential clients.

ĢƵ graduate students will provide the clients’ teletherapy with “100% supervision from a licensed speech-language pathologist,” said Deena Petersen, clinic director.

ĢƵ School of Music presents ‘Quarantine Concert,’ sends virtual message to students


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music continues to explore innovative methods to reach out virtually to its students and music-loving audiences.

A virtual “Quarantine Concert” will feature pre-recorded performances by students in the Sound Recording Technology program at 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, on the School of Music’s YouTube Channel.

ĢƵ School of Music announces scholarship recipients


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University has announced the newest list of recipients of the many scholarships that are awarded annually to ĢƵ music students.

ĢƵ’s Texas National virtual exhibition postponed until May 5


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Due to technical difficulties in the virtual judging process for this year’s Texas National Competition and Exhibition at Stephen F. Austin State University, the video of the exhibition and announcement of the winning entries will not be available for viewing until the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5, according to officials with The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

ĢƵ students teach nutrition through Cooking Matters program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — For several Stephen F. Austin State University students and faculty and staff members, cooking matters.

During the past six weeks, Justin Pelham, food, nutrition and dietetics clinical instructor at ĢƵ, and students in his community nutrition courses have educated university faculty and staff members on nutrition and cooking healthy food on a budget through the Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters program.

ĢƵ students win top honors at American Advertising Federation-Houston Student Conference


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Six Stephen F. Austin State University students received top honors at the American Advertising Federation-Houston Student Conference held Nov. 3 and 4.

The federation comprises professionals from advertising, marketing and communications disciplines.

Students from ĢƵ’s School of Art, Department of Management and Marketing, and Department of Mass Communication competed during the conference.
