ĢƵ’s online graduate interior design program ranked among top in nation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Online Schools Center has ranked Stephen F. Austin State University’s graduate interior design program among the top 16 in the nation.

Online Schools Center, a website dedicated to helping students who are seeking an online education, recently reviewed university websites to find the best online programs in interior design. ĢƵ’s program stood out.

ĢƵ SummerStage Festival: ‘Crimes of the Heart’ opens July 5


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will open the American comedy-drama “Crimes of the Heart” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, in the Downstage Theatre for the play’s run in the 2018 SummerStage Festival.

This year’s summer theatre season, which opened June 29 and continues through July 19, also features the children’s favorite “Pinkalicious the Musical.”

ĢƵ Gardens’ Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series to feature Arkansas horticulture specialist


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. July 12 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Janet Carson, horticulture specialist for the University of Arkansas’s Division of Agriculture System Cooperative Extension Service will present “Blinding Color in the Garden.”

ĢƵ’s SummerStage Festival opens with ‘Pinkalicious the Musical’


ĢƵ’s Friday Film Series to screen two films in July


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of two documentaries – “Cavedigger” and “The 100 Years Show” – starting at 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Both films are shorter than usual Friday Film Series documentary runtimes, so the Friends of the Visual Arts film committee members elected to combine the two screenings.

ĢƵ hosts fourth Barrio Writers literature program


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Literature was the name of the game last week as students from the Nacogdoches Independent School District participated in the fourth Barrio Writers summer program at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Dr. Heather Olson Beal, ĢƵ associate professor in the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership, serves as the coordinator for this free weeklong program.

Poetry book published by ĢƵ Press named finalist for High Plains Book Award


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A poetry book written by prolific poet Greg Kuzma and published by ĢƵ Press, has been named a finalist for the 2018 High Plains Book Award for Poetry.

“Hose and Iron: Selected Poems” was published in 2017 through ĢƵ Press, a publishing entity that operates through Stephen F. Austin State University. Kuzma, who has published more than 1,500 poems during a 50-year timespan, lives in Nebraska, but chose ĢƵ Press to publish his latest collection of poems.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – In less than a week, the SummerStage Festival at Stephen F. Austin State University will open for its three-week run of presenting a fun and heartwarming children’s musical and an emotionally powerful American play for the 2018 summer theatre season.

2016-17 ĢƵ Stone Fort yearbook nationally recognized


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — While its purpose may be to preserve history, Stephen F. Austin State University’s 2016-17 Stone Fort yearbook has made history by being honored with a national award.

Balfour Yearbooks, the premier national provider of school spirit and recognition productions, acknowledged ĢƵ’s 2016-17 Stone Fort yearbook staff members for their outstanding contribution to scholastic journalism, making them one of only 4 percent of yearbook staffs nationwide to receive this recognition.
