Parastoo Nikravesh, a Stephen F. Austin State University mass communication junior from Jacksonville, Texas, was awarded the Founders' Scholarship from the Headliners Foundation of Texas, a non-profit organization promoting excellence in journalism. As a student journalist, Nikravesh serves as the editor-in-chief of The Pine Log, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's award-winning student newspaper.

Scholarship bass fishing tournament scheduled

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Campus Recreation Department will host the fifth annual Worsham Bass Tournament on Saturday, June 24, at Jackson Hill Park and Marina on Lake Sam Rayburn in Broaddus.

All proceeds go to the Dr. Raymond Lee Worsham Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to student employees of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's Campus Recreation Department.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's College of Liberal and Applied Arts partnered with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to encourage faculty members to apply for grants by sponsoring a grant-writing competition. The competition tasked faculty members with finding a source of at least $25,000 in grant funding for the 2018 calendar year and presenting a preliminary research prospectus to the dean's office.

Stephen F. Austin State University is the only public higher education institution in Texas that has a sports business program at the undergraduate level in an AACSB-accredited college of business. Dr. Jason Reese, sports business program director and advisor at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, has been a leader in establishing this program within the Rusche College of Business.
