NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Experts from across the U.S. will converge May 5 through 7 at the Nacogdoches Exposition Center, located at 3805 Northwest Stallings Drive, as Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens welcomes the 2017 Texas Pollinator PowWow.

This year's event will focus on biodiversity and the many ways pollinators, plants and humans depend on one another for survival.

"It's really an amazing opportunity to have such renowned experts all in one place," said Dawn Stover, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gardens research associate.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's Trumpet Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in Cole Concert Hall on the university campus.

New York recording artist Jose Davila will perform with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's Swingin' Axes jazz band at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus. The Swingin' Aces will also perform.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces jazz bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a diverse program when they perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed, full-length play "This is Our Youth" by Kenneth Lonergan at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the Downstage Theatre on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ campus.

Houston senior theatre student Jason Trevino is the director. He describes the play as the story of "three pot-smoking teenagers" who, in 1982, "resoundingly reject the 1960s ideals of their affluent parents."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University faculty members will be recognized for their teaching abilities at the annual Teaching Excellence Convocation from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Stephen F. Austin State University student volunteers from the Early Childhood Organization set up a rain gutter regatta boat race at last year's Family Fun Day during Week of the Young Child. This year, Week of the Young Child will be observed Monday, April 24, through Friday, April 28, in Nacogdoches County.
