NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Faculty, staff and music education students from Stephen F. Austin State University’s Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts gathered in Cole Concert Hall last week for a surprise announcement honoring Olivia Smith, a junior Bachelor of Music student from Angleton, as the first recipient of the Texas Music Educators Association’s newly endowed Robert Floyd Scholarship for Music Education.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Voke (Gbemre) Ogueh, who graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2006 with a master’s degree in mathematics, has earned the President’s Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

The White House and former President Joe Biden’s administration announced the most recent award recipients Jan. 13. She joins 336 award recipients in the United States and U.S. territories this year.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University will recognize several prominent donors who have supported the institution during the 34th annual Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Gala, slated for Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Hosted by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵSU Foundation, the annual black-tie event honors generous benefactors to the university; showcases the impact of their giving on the students, faculty, staff and programs; and reiterates the need for the university’s endowment.
