ĢƵ’s Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to present concert featuring music by Joel Puckett
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform “The Music of Joel Puckett,” featuring the music of composer-in-residence Joel Puckett, professor and chair of music theory, ear training and keyboard skills at John Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute.
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Griffith Fine Arts Building’s Turner Auditorium. Puckett will complete a residency at ĢƵ that will culminate with this concert in which he will attend.
ĢƵ achieves record-breaking success on 2024 Giving Day
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University celebrated an unprecedented success with its fourth annual Giving Day, raising a total of $192,545 from more than 3,400 donors across the nation. The funds, which will benefit various academic and other programs, athletics, and academic initiatives, far surpassed the initial goal of 500 donors and last year's results.

ĢƵ Wind Ensemble to premiere Composing in the Wilderness program pieces
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Stephen F. Austin State University’s Wind Ensemble will present their first concert of the 2024-25 school year at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Griffith Fine Arts Building’s Turner Auditorium. This will be the first of three concerts to be held nationally featuring six brand new pieces created as part of the Composing in the Wilderness project that took place at Lake Clark National Park in Alaska during the summer of 2023.
