Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ piano trio to present 'Poets and Prophets'


The Alazan Piano Trio, featuring Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ music faculty Jennifer Dalmas, violin, Evgeni Raychev, cello, and Ron Petti, piano, will present "Poets and Prophets" at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Cole Concert Hall on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Music Preparatory recitals scheduled in early December


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Students enrolled in private and group lessons offered by the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will perform a series of end-of-the-semester recitals during the first two weeks of December.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ student teachers' students and Dr. Mario Ajero's piano students will kick off the performances at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in Cole Concert Hall.

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus will be lit with festive lights at the RHA Holiday Extravaganza. Attendees may enjoy holiday treats, musical performances and pictures with Santa.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-The Residence Hall Association at Stephen F. Austin State University will host a night of festive family fun at the annual Holiday Extravaganza Tuesday, Nov. 27. The event begins at 6 p.m. in front of the Austin Building and continues until 8 p.m.

Jazz bands' performances to feature student soloists


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Stephen F. Austin State University student musicians will be showcased when the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Music presents the Swingin' Axes and Swingin' Aces in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

The Swingin' Axes will perform a program that spans more than 60 years of big band jazz styles, according to Gary Wurtz, professor of trumpet at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and director of the ensemble.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music's Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. The concert is a featured performance of the School of Music's Concert Series.

The Symphonic Band will open the program with "The Hounds of Spring" concert overture by Alfred Reed, said Tamey Anglley, assistant director of bands and the Symphonic Band's director.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Theatre to stage reading of new play 'Spark'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of a nationwide, month-long script reading program presented by the New York-based company No Passport, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a special staged reading of the new play "Spark," written by OBIE-Award winning playwright Caridad Svich. The reading will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, in the Downstage Theatre on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Campus. Admission is free.
