NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are now being accepted for the spring classes offered through the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division.
Students, including adults, may register for weekly private lessons in voice, harp, piano, classical guitar, violin, Suzuki violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, percussion and other requested instruments. The 16-week classes, taught by upper-level music preparatory faculty, begin the week of Jan. 14. The 12-week classes, taught by Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ student instructors, begin the week of Jan. 28.
Auditions set for Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Music Preparatory choir
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Sixth through eighth grade students interested in joining the Piney Woods Chorale can audition for the group from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Music Prep House, 3028 Raguet St.
The ensemble, directed by Nicole Stewart, who is assisted by Shelby Tillery, is offered through the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ art gallery hours announced for semester break
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Hours for the Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University's art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches, will be extended during the Christmas and New Year's semester break, according to John Handley, director of galleries for Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.
Red River Radio to broadcast Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Theatre's Christmas play
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - "The Gift of the Magi," the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre's first radio play, will once again be broadcast on Red River Radio, the region's NPR affiliate (locally KLDN 88.9 FM), at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19. The program had its regional premiere on Red River Radio last Christmas.
The half-hour adaptation of O. Henry's classic seasonal story of the same title was dramatized by Broadway veteran Jack Heifner, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's resident playwright, and directed by Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Senior Lecturer Jackie Rosenfeld.
Tickets for 'Babes in Toyland' still available
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are still available for the Christmas play "Babes in Toyland" to be presented at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, in W.M. Turner Auditorium in the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
The two performances of Victor Herbert's children's classic are presented by American Family Theater, Inc. and are part of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ College of Fine Arts' Children's Performing Arts Series.
