NACOGDOCHES - The Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony of Stephen F. Austin State University will present "Main Street USA" in a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.
The concert is a collection of pieces by American composers, many of whom are from rural areas, according to David W. Campo, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ associate director of bands.
Under the direction of Tamey Anglley, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ assistant director of bands, the Symphonic Band will open the concert with "The Belle of Chicago" by the famous American march composer John Philip Sousa.

First Friday Film Series to screen "Under African Skies"
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Director Joe Berlinger's "Under African Skies" will be presented in a free screening at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, as part of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art's First Friday Film Series.
The documentary about singer/songwriter Paul Simon's 2011 journey back to South Africa 25 years after releasing his album "Graceland" will be shown in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to present student-directed 'Refuge'
NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student production of Jessica Goldberg's "Refuge" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. All performances are in the Downstage Theatre, located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.
Wylie senior Brian Butler will direct the one-act play, which Butler describes as a "darkly funny and touching story of four people searching for their refuge, or shelter, to guard them from the hard reality of life."
Tickets still available for Kuerti performance at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are still available for the upcoming performance of internationally acclaimed pianist Anton Kuerti, who will present a concert on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University as part of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ College of Fine Art's 2012-13 University Series.
Kuerti's performance is slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in W.M. Turner Auditorium in the Griffith Fine Arts Building.
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to host Kathleen Kennedy Townsend for weeklong event series
Townsend is a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow
Stephen F. Austin State University will welcome a member of the Kennedy family to campus for a weeklong visit in February.
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former lieutenant governor of Maryland and former U.S. deputy assistant attorney general, is the eldest child of Ethel Kennedy and the late U.S. Senator and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. She will arrive in Nacogdoches on Feb. 3 and will participate in a public interview at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.

NACOGDOCHES - Gary Wurtz, professor of trumpet and jazz studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Cole Concert Hall.
Among the pieces featured in the program will be "Timberline Sonata" by Stephen Lias, professor of composition in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ School of Music, "Concerto in D" by Giuseppe Tartini and "Someone to Watch Over Me" by George Gershwin.
