NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Senior interior design students at Stephen F. Austin State University will be showcasing their work in the "Essence of Design" exhibit on display Feb. 9 through March 2 on the second floor of the Ralph W. Steen Library.

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music has announced the winners of the 2013 Schmidbauer International Young Artist Strings Competition held Jan. 19 and 20 on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus.

From a pool of international applicants, 10 semi-finalists in two age divisions were selected to compete in the two-day event.

Segregation exhibit to open at Nacogdoches Railroad Depot


The Center for Regional Heritage Research will open an exhibit on "Separate but Equal" public facilities on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot, 101 Old Tyler Road.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Regents approves faculty, staff changes


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents approved faculty and staff changes during its quarterly meeting Tuesday.

Faculty appointments include Jodene Pappas, librarian II, and Rebecca Parr, assistant professor of biology. Faculty changes of status include Sheila Lumar, from visiting assistant professor to assistant professor of human sciences; Brook Poston, from instructor to assistant professor of history; and William Bruton, from interim associate dean to associate dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics.

The work of contemporary artist Linda Ridgway to be featured in Cole Art Center


Linda Ridgway's "A Perfect Six" is cast in bronze and will be featured in the exhibition "Linda Ridgway: A Song Only to Herself," which opens Friday, Feb. 8, the Reavley Gallery in The Cole Art Center in downtown Nacogdoches.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ hires research firm to conduct public affairs audit


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A Virginia-based marketing research firm hired by the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents Tuesday will conduct an audit of the institution's marketing and communications initiatives this spring.

SimpsonScarborough was one of three firms that made presentations to the board's finance and audit committee Monday morning, and the agency's selection was approved by the full board Tuesday.

Renowned metalsmith to give demonstrations on Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ campus


NACOGDOCHES - Metalsmith Tedd McDonah will be on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University Thursday, Jan. 31, through Saturday, Feb. 2, for workshops and demonstrations.

McDonah will give a demonstration from 8 to 10:40 a.m. Thursday in Room 139 of the Art Building. He will also give a presentation at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the art history room 106. Following the presentation, an open house will be held in the metals studio with refreshments and student artwork for viewing.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ bands to present 'Main Street USA'


NACOGDOCHES - The Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony of Stephen F. Austin State University will present "Main Street USA" in a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

The concert is a collection of pieces by American composers, many of whom are from rural areas, according to David W. Campo, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ associate director of bands.

Under the direction of Tamey Anglley, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ assistant director of bands, the Symphonic Band will open the concert with "The Belle of Chicago" by the famous American march composer John Philip Sousa.
