Austin State University today officially becomes the 14th member of The University of Texas System.
The formal action of transitioning ĢƵ into the UT System was finalized during the Aug. 24 UT Board of Regents meeting in Austin to become official Sept. 1.

Just recently, Dr. Ben Morris, composition faculty in the School of Music, and Amanda Sheriff, ĢƵ graduate and professional opera singer, worked together on the world premiere of Morris’ youth opera “The Rip Van Winkles” at the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Music by Anže Rozman, Franz Schubert and Amanda Harberg will be among the featured works in a recital showcasing the talents of Dr. Samantha M. Inman, associate professor of music theory at Stephen F. Austin State University, and Tracy Cole, piano accompanist for Lufkin ISD, First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and the Stone Fort Chorale.
The recital is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church at 411 North St.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin State University students in the School of Art traveled to Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Rome, Italy, to study art first hand and develop the School of Art’s ongoing exchange program with Libera Accademia di Belle Arti (LABA), an art school in Florence.
