NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Tickets are still available to experience a performance by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the newly renovated Turner Auditorium in Griffith Fine Arts Building.
Foster opens the 2023-24 Centennial Season of the Micky Elliott College of Fine Arts’ University Series.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – “Invasive Species,” a body of work by Lauren Selden, professor of art (metals/jewelry/sculpture) at Stephen F. Austin State University, has a solo exhibition from Oct. 11 through 19 at the Cora Stafford Galleries at the University of North Texas, Denton.
The body of work was created after Selden attended a residency in Fiskars, Finland, funded by an ĢƵ Creative Activity Grant. The series “Invasive Species” consists of sculptural works that explore the interplay between geometric forms and nature, according to Selden.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present “The Music of Omar Thomas” for its first concert of the 2023-24 academic year. The program will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Turner Auditorium inside the newly renovated Griffith Fine Arts Building on the ĢƵ campus.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Dr. Chris Turner, assistant professor of voice at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be joined by colleagues to present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Cole Concert Hall on the ĢƵ campus.
Turner will perform with Robert Boren, voice professor at Tyler Junior College, and Maggie Hinchliffe, collaborative pianist at ĢƵ.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Kenari Quartet will present a recital that members state will range in repertoire from “heartfelt to adventurous” when the saxophone ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in Cole Concert Hall on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.
The Kenari Quartet includes soprano saxophonist Dr. Bob Eason; alto saxophonist Kyle Baldwin; tenor saxophonist Corey Dundee; and baritone saxophonist Steven Banks.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A solo exhibition of works by Candace Hicks, associate professor of art in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University, will open the first week in October in the Transystem Gallery at Arts Fort Worth.
Hicks’ exhibition features work from her series “Notes for String Theory.”
