NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The student-led Economics Reading Group in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Rusche College of Business is hosting a discussion on entrepreneurship with Kevin Carr, a 1992 ĢƵ finance graduate and owner of Community Beer Co. in Dallas, at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 in the McGee Business Building, Room 133, on the ĢƵ campus. The event is free and open to the public.

‘A Collection of Works by Piero Fenci’ showing on ĢƵ campus


The Teresa Jill Adams Art Gallery in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, Stephen F. Austin State University campus, currently features a collection of works by ceramicist Piero Fenci. The exhibition features a combination of ceramics and ink drawings on paper. These works will be on view through Nov. 3 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27.
 

ĢƵ’s horticulture program to host Fall Plant Fair


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s horticulture program will host its sixth annual Fall Plant Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the ĢƵ Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Drive behind the Agriculture Building. 

Plants available for purchase include a variety of winter annuals, such as pansies, violas, wallflowers, sweet alyssum and snapdragons. All are winter hardy and perform well in East Texas climates. Plants will sell for $2.50 per pot. 

ĢƵ’s Percussion Ensemble to perform


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Percussion Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform works by Austin Franklin, Michael Burritt, Nathan Daughtrey and other percussionists in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in Cole Concert Hall on the ĢƵ campus.
 

ĢƵ to screen ‘John G. Avildsen: King of the Underdogs’


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of “John G. Avildsen: King of the Underdogs,” directed by filmmaker and ĢƵ alumnus Derek Wayne Johnson, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
 

ĢƵ’s Sound Recording Technology student ensembles to perform


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Student ensembles in the Sound Recording Technology program at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 in Turner Auditorium, Griffith Fine Arts Building, on the ĢƵ campus.
 

Cole Art Center: Works by artist Muñoz to be featured in ‘Twenty’ exhibition


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House will present “Twenty,” an exhibition featuring the work of Benjamin Muñoz, running Nov. 2 through Jan. 19 at The Cole Art Center.
 

ĢƵ’s Stone Fort Museum announces 2023 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Stone Fort Museum has named Rick Still and the late Frances A. Shofner as the 2023 Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award recipients.

The museum's biennial heritage preservation award was established in honor of the Cum Concilio Club's dedication to the preservation of Nacogdoches' cultural and historical landscape. The award recognizes a group or individual who has made significant contributions to the preservation of East Texas’ history and Nacogdoches' heritage. 

ĢƵ Gardens to host annual holiday wreath-making event


NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens will host its annual “Deck the Halls: Using Evergreens to Decorate for the Holidays” seminar from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 2 at the Brundrett Conservation Education Building in the Pineywoods Native Plant Center. 

ĢƵ to present fall Danceworks concerts


NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The School of Theatre and Dance at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the fall student-choreographed and student-produced Danceworks concerts Nov. 9 through 11 in the Dance Performance Studio, Griffith Fine Arts Building, on the ĢƵ campus.
 
The Danceworks concerts are choreographed by senior dance students majoring in dance education or performance and choreography, according to Heather Samuelson, ĢƵ’s dance program director.
