ĢƵ’s Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to present ‘From Dawn to Dusk’
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band at Stephen F. Austin State University will present “From Dawn to Dusk,” a program of works that features music by Viet Cuong.
Cuong, a rising composer, will be in-residence with the ĢƵ bands in mid-October, just prior to this concert, which is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. The program will also showcase Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone at ĢƵ, as soloist.

In addition, ĢƵ’s educational leadership, secondary education and special education master’s degrees were listed among the top 25 most affordable online degrees in their respective categories.
Attorney, ceramicist to discuss art, law in lecture at ĢƵ
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Attorney and ceramicist Chris Balch of Atlanta, Georgia, will visit the Stephen F. Austin State University campus to deliver a lecture on art and the law at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Room 106 of the Art Building.

New online degree program in human development and family studies at ĢƵ provides flexibility for nontraditional students
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — As a marketing coordinator and camp counselor for middle school girls, Maxine McFadden knew uprooting her life to pursue a degree wasn’t an option. However, thanks to a new online degree program at Stephen F. Austin State University, she can now work toward her educational goals.
Recently, ĢƵ launched a completely online bachelor’s degree in human sciences with an emphasis in human development and family studies. For McFadden and other nontraditional students this program is a perfect fit.
Nursing students to offer free flu shots and health screenings at Piney Woods Fair
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ of Nursing is partnering with East Texas Community Health Services to provide free flu vaccinations, blood glucose testing, cholesterol screening and blood pressure readings Oct. 10 through 14 at the Piney Woods Fair.
Students from the fourth semester nursing class will be set up in the Expo Center from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 3 to 10 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Registration open for ĢƵ Homecoming 5K
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s campus recreation and alumni association will host the ninth annual Homecoming 5K beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, on the ĢƵ campus near the new Ed and Gwen Cole STEM Building located off Clark Boulevard.
Renowned pianist Ayesh to perform in ĢƵ concert series
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Concert pianist Kevin Ayesh will perform at Stephen F. Austin State University at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in Cole Concert Hall as part of the ĢƵ Friends of Music Concert Series.
Ayesh, who has presented concerts and master classes throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Hong Kong, will present a varied program featuring the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré and Frédéric Chopin.
ĢƵ Gardens to host Archery and Survival Supermarket Family Day
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Join Stephen F. Austin State University’s ĢƵ Gardens for a free outdoor family day featuring archery, the Survival Supermarket and guided plant identification hikes led by students from the National Association of Interpretation, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.
ĢƵ to present student-directed “Trifles”
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed play “Trifles” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Downstage Theatre on the ĢƵ campus.
Macy Rhodes, a senior theatre major from Center Point, directs the one-act play written by Susan Glaspell. It explores the psychological differences between men and women, their social roles, isolation and perceived justice.
